A winter residence built from shadow and shelter.
Blackened cedar volumes run along the ridge beneath one folded zinc roof. Volcanic stone anchors the house to the slope while bronze-framed glass turns Mount Yotei into the only artwork required.
The onsen occupies the recessed stone plinth visible beneath the east wing in every exterior master.
